This will help you create a new entry for the Bolt Lighting Rental Wiki. In this entry will be guidelines and helpful tips when making a new entry for equipment items, articles, or anything helpful to add to the BoltWiki.

Start a New Page

When creating a new page, first look to see if the page has already been created. On the top right of the Wiki, there is a search bar. Type in the name of the article that you are looking for and hit search. If the article does not show up, you can click on Create the page "Example" on this wiki! button to create the page.

Now you can begin adding all the information related to the topic of the page.

Refer to the General Wiki-Formatting Guidelines for help with formatting a page.

Equipment Page

Use the Equipment Template page to begin the format of the new entry. Copy and paste the markup text after clicking on edit.

When making a page for an equipment item, begin with a description of the item you are writing about.

  • Create A header for the uses and applications the item can be used for.

This should be explain why people would order this piece of equipment in the first place. What can you do with it, what are the limitations, and what are you usually going to use it for.

  • Next, should be the QC process of the item.

If QC is required on this item, what is the standard QC process? List it out in bullet point form.

  • Then, create an accessorires subheader.

What are the common accessories with this piece of equipment if any? Be sure to link to other articles if they exist.

  • Last should be the troubleshooting section.

What are the common pitfalls to this item and how can they be fixed? If there's something that commonly breaks, feel free to list that along with who fixes it.

How To Article

When writing a how to article, include as much information on the process as possible.

Some helpful headers can include:

  • What you need

This will be a section about the tools needed for the process, different items used, or any other list of what is needed for the process.

  • How you get started

This could be used to describe the initial start of the process.

  • What is the step by step process

This could be used as listing the instructional steps of the process.

  • What to do when done.

This could be used as what to do after the process is done.
