Troubleshooting must be done systematically to ensure that you can narrow down the problem in the shortest amount of steps possible.

  • Start with the simple issues that can be visually confirmed

Is there a globe in the light, is everything patched in correctly, is there gas in the generator?

  • Change one variable at a time to pinpoint the problem

If you change too many variables and then it works, you will not know which component is faulty and this process will have to be done over again to swap out the broken item leading to wasted motion.

  • Check to see if Software can be updated

This could be firmware for a device or drivers on the computer the device is connected to. Make sure everything is as up-to-date as possible before continuing.

  • Look for resources online

Type your exact problem into google to see if you can find other people with the same issue and how they have resolved it. This could also be raeching out the the manufacturere customer support for more information.

  • If you still cannot find a resolution, put in on its shelf with a Repair tag

Make sure it has a repair tag and put it in its location in the shop. Create a card in Trello for the item.
