The Technicolor 3 Strip process is basically 3 strips of black and white film - Film speed was around 15 ASA. It works with a prism that directs light towards a black and white film that captured green. Then there was red and blue that was sandwiched together that captured the red and blue sides. Since the film speed was so low it had very minimal grain.

The early days of technicolor had someone supervising the use of the technicolor camera, which included lighting. Had to be flat, hard light as they wanted to showcase they color that it was capable of.
