The Square Knot is an ancient and simple binding knot used to secure a rope or line around an object. Usually tie Square knots with #8 Sash and not with #4 Trickline.

- Binding larger cable together while wrapping. example: bates, banded, 4/o
- Rigging single lines of cable to pipe, like in a studio.
