Sound Blankets (Furniture Pads)
A sound blanket or furniture pad is a thick blanket that could be used for blocking light, dampening sound, protecting equipment, furniture, locations, or used to support a camera operator.
Uses
Sometimes a camera operator will ask for a sound blanket folder into a cylinder so that they can rest their elbows on it to hold up the camera. This is usually done in a crampt space where the height from the furniture pad would be perfect for the shot.
While this is an interesting way to fold a sound blanket, we stick with a normal fold to fit them into our trucks to keep it simple for anyone to pack.
Substitutions
It depends on what your application is for the sound blanket, but if you are using it to blackout windows, you can substitute solids, scrap duvetyne, or Visqueen.
