Self Shot Video

Self shot video has become such a commonplace thing that people want to replicate it in their films or commercials. The question then becomes what camera do you use to achieve this since most people think it must be held by the actor in order to appear realistic.
It really can be as simple as a regular handheld build with a spider grip handle turned upwards next to the mattebox. The actor can grab this and then guide you around and you can reframe as necessary. This can also be done while shooting vertically, but an easy rig may be necessary and it could be difficult to do handheld with the camera in a vertical orientation.
