Nucleus
The Nucleus-M is a remote follow focus that also has handgrip extensions for controlling Focus, Iris, and Zoom.
Manual Calibration
While you can use the actual method to manually calibrate the lens, this method is faster and will work well on gears that are endless.
- Hold delete to remove any existing marks
- Go to close focus.
- Click and hold the Mark button on the hand unit.
- Bring the lens to infinity.
- Let go of Mark.
You will now be calibrated to that new lens and you'll have close focus and infinity as the start and end of your hand unit.
You can also use this if you are on a very long lens and are never going closer than 25' for example. It basically can be used to reduce your total range of a lens.
Handgrip Setup
The handgrip setup most often used is to use the handgrip in place of a microforce zoom controller. In this mode the IRIS knob on the front of the handgrip will control the zoom speed and the joystick will control the zoom.
As a note the handgrip and the hand unit cannot control the same motors at once. You will have to make it so the hand unit is not controlling the motor.
The handgrip menu is difficult to navigate.
- To enter the menu you must double click it.
- Menu is Up
- Down is Down
- Double Click Menu to enter into a Setting.
- Press Record to set something and return to the main screen.
Set Wireless to H00 on both the handgrip and the motor.
Use the Run/Stop cable to go from the camera to the motor, then run an extension cable from the motor to the handgrip. This will power both the motor and the handgrip off the camera.
Set Knob Motor Number to 0.
Set Joystick Motor Number to the same motor number as your zoom.
