As the gaffer it is your job to manage the lighting crew. Some notes for doing this.
Give your instructions on the walkie succinctly and clearly. "I need 1k Baby on a baby stand outside the living room window"
Certain lights you might just want on standby "Can we head up a 1k baby on a preemie"
Wait for someone to copy and just consider their workload before giving more notes. If everyone is busy, do not expect someone to say copy. Its not because they didn't hear you, its because they are busy doing something else. You can let them know when they are ready you have more notes.
Once all the lights are set and you are ready to dial everything in, set each one of your technicians at each light so that they can be quickly dimmed or moved.
