Managing Chart of Accounts in RentalWorks

Mapping new accounts to assign income to in Rentalworks
Go to Utilities --- Inventory Maintenance --- rental inventory categories - - - Right click ---- hit select all ---- Right click again ---- Multi category update -----
Uncheck --- Asset G/L account --- attach account 1400 Auto Transport equipment.
Uncheck --- Normal Income --- attach the rental income account 1201
Uncheck ---- Sub rental/ Sub salesIncome ---- add account 1201 Rental income
Uncheck --- Equipment sales ---- Add account 1204 Equipment sales
Uncheck ---- L/D ---- add account 1203 L/D income
Uncheck--- Expense --- assign group 1301 sub rentals
Hit update
Sorting Truck expenses into separate categories
Open Maintenance --- Misc Maintenance --- Misc rates
The GL accounts for truck charges are default assigned in Rentalworks into 1 category. However
In order to override the default and separate the various charges into there own categories
Once in the rates menu, you can click on a charge and hit--- G/L accounts at the bottom to manually assign an account number for them, You will need to make a new account in QuickBooks to do this.
How to check your chart of accounts
If you ever need to make a new account but are unsure which account number has already been used, or if you want to see exactly where each charge is being assigned to
- Settings
- Accounting - Chart of accounts
- Select the G/L account you wish to look at
