Hiring Shop Techs

There are busier days at the shop where we will want to hire additional shop techs to help us do the days work.

To hire someone, you will do the following.

  • Make sure this is approved by posting in the Purchasing-Staffing-OT channel.
  • Open Spark, our email client.
  • Create a New Email with the Hiring Regulars Template

This template will input all of the normal shop techs that we hire and it will send a text to each person individually.

  • Check in slack if we have any preference to who we hire

This should be done through DM only since everyone can see other channels.

  • Respond to the person who has said they are available and let them know they are booked.

You must say the words "You are booked" as that confirms it is actually going to happen and not just a soft hold.

  • If the booking is not solid yet, let them know it is only a soft hold and you will be in touch to confirm.
  • Once they are hired, add them to the calendar with their start and stop times.
  • You can always hire someone for less than 8 hours if you are having troubles finding someone for the full day

If for any reason you do this in person, you need to make sure you tell them what time they are expected to be in the shop as well.

Hiring Full Time Shop Techs

There are a few parameters that must be met before hiring a full time shoptech.

  • Must have 9000 in owners compensation account.
  • Payments for shoptech should be made from Operational Expense account, but its acceptable to get it from the owners comp.
  • Full time for 2 months only

After the shoptech finishes the 2 months, there is a 2 month period of trying to get them on set. If we do not offer them anything after 2 months, they get a 1500 bonus.

If their session ends around the end of the year, we are able to start their work time with matt on a different date within 6 months of them finishing working in the shop.
