We are required by law to report any independent contractors that we hire to the EDD. This is required when we hire someone as an IC and pay them over or equal to 600 dollars. This must be done within 20 calendar days of the hire date.
Login to our E-Services account. Instead of following the instructions below, you can also watch a video. [I Want to File a Report of Independent Contractor(s) (DE 542) ]
Use the Employer EDD Login in Lastpass.
- Click Employment Tax
This can be found under accounts at the bottom of the screen.
- Click Show All
This is next to the "I want to" column in the top right.
- File Report of Independent Contractors
- Click Continue to iICR page
- Click Create new DE542 Form.
- Fill in information.
You can find our EIN in LastPass
- Fill in information of Independent contractors
This is only people who have worked for us as independent contractors, does not include people who have rented equipment to us. You will need their W-9.
- Press Submit
