Crewing up jobs
People will oftentimes ask us for crew members and while we can provide recommendations, it must be made clear that they will have to hire them and we cannot provide labor.
Finding Crew
- Start a new trello card
Add matt and Ryan to the card so they know they need to find some crew. In this card write down all the information they have like shoot dates, contact information, what positions they are looking for, and the rates associated with each position.
- Ask the rate
Don't try to negotiate the rate or tell them what the rate should be. Even if they ask just leave that up to whoever you recommend.
- Be clear on the position
For some inexperienced producers, they could ask for multiple gaffers when really they need a gaffer and a key grip. If they are asking for just a grip or an electrician, be sure to ask who the gaffer is. Often times they will ask for these lower positions, but not have a department head in place and really need a gaffer.
- Call and find someone who is available.
It's not a good idea to recommend people who are not available as it just wastes that producer's time and reduces the possibility that our gaffer will get the job. If a gaffer that we don't know gets the job, it is very possible we will lose the rental.
- Send Information to the Producer
Send the producer the Name, Phone Number, and Email and ask them to reach out.
