If an employee is Suspected to have Covid-19, here are the steps to ensure that both the employee that is sick and other employees in the shop are safe.

Symtoms of COVID 19

There is a wide range of symptoms reported ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. COVID-19 Symptoms are reported as:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Symptoms at Home

If you are feeling some of the symptoms noted by the CDC at home. Please inform the rentals manager or the owner that you are not feeling well. Practice recommended hygiene and read up on what do next by visiting the CDC Covid-19 Site

What to do at Home

  • Stay home except to get medical care
  • Most people with COVID-19 have mild illness and can recover at home without medical care. Do not leave your home, except to get medical care. Do not visit public areas.
  • Take care of yourself. Get rest and stay hydrated. Take over-the-counter medicines, such as acetaminophen, to help you feel better.
  • Stay in touch with your doctor. Call before you get medical care. Be sure to get care if you have trouble breathing, or have any other emergency warning signs, or if you think it is an emergency.
  • If needed, talk with your doctor about providing a test result to your employer in order to continue work.
  • Avoid public transportation, ride-sharing, or taxis.

Symptoms at the Workplace

  • Inform the Supervisor

If you are feeling some of the symptoms of feeling sick at work, inform the supervisor that you are not feeling well. Once acknowledge you will be sent home to monitor how you are feeling and read up on the CDC Website on what to do next.

  • Increase Ventilation Immediately

The leftover employee will turn on any fans and close up the shop.

  • Cleaning

Wait 24hrs before cleaning. Disinfectant all common areas and areas of high contact. Continue to run fans during cleaning.

Extra Help

If needed while workers are quarantined, Bolt will reach out to find help if needed to prep orders in the meantime.


Return to Work

When it is agreed by the supervisor to return to work after being sick, some precautions will take place before entering the shop.

  • Wait 3 Days

It is recommended to wait 3-5 days from the last severe symptom before returning to work. This will give enough time to return to normal and the best place to start working. If symptoms begin to come up again, notify the supervisor and continue to quarantine until feeling well again.

  • Verbal Screening

Supervisor will conduct a verbal screening to determine whether a worker has had symptoms including a cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell in the past 24 hours.

  • Tempurture Checked

Temperatures of workers should be provided at the start of the day to identify if they have a fever of 100.4°F or greater


If a worker starts to feel symptoms come on during the day, notify the supervisor and begin to self-isolate and monitor symptoms.

Working From Home

If after symptoms have subsided but still recommended to stay home, you can be tasked to work on Bolt Business from home. Make sure you give enough time to feel better before coordinating with the supervisor on what can be done from home while you quarantine. If at any point you are not feeling well, notify the supervisor where you are in your task and continue to rest until ready to start working again.

Exposed Employees

If an employee or coworker was exposed to COVID 19 at the workplace. They must meet a criteria before returning to work.

  • Verbal Screening

Supervisor will conduct a verbal screening to determine whether a worker has had symptoms including a cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell in the past 24 hours. If so, the employee must go home and begin quarantine and discussions with their health provider.

  • Tempurture Checked

Temperatures of workers should be provided at the start of the day to identify if they have a fever of 100.4°F or greater.

  • Increase use of PPE

Employees resuming work will have to adhere to wearing PPE at all times. This includes wearing masks at all times, indoors and outdoors, and anywhere on the property. They must continue to practice as much hand hygiene as possible to lower the risk of spreading. All work surfaces should be cleaned regularly.

If any symptoms begin to show, notify the supervisor, and go home to rest.

Disability Insurance (DI) claim

Individuals who are unable to work due to having or being exposed to COVID-19 (certified by a medical professional) can file a Disability Insurance (DI) claim.

Disability Insurance provides short-term benefit payments to eligible workers who have full or partial loss of wages due to a non-work-related illness, injury, or pregnancy. Benefit amounts are approximately 60-70 percent of wages (depending on income) and range from $50 - $1,300 a week.

Californians who are unable to work because they are caring for an ill or quarantined family member with COVID-19 (certified by a medical professional) can file a Paid Family Leave (PFL) claim.

Paid Family Leave provides up to six weeks of benefit payments to eligible workers who have a full or partial loss of wages because they need time off work to care for a seriously ill family member or to bond with a new child. Benefit amounts are approximately 60-70 percent of wages (depending on income) and range from $50-$1,300 a week.
