Baby Pipe Clamp

A baby pipe clamp, also called a Theatre C, is a type of hook meant to hang a light on a piece of 1-1/4" of 1-1/2" speedrail.

Uses

While it is mostly used to hang lights on pipe, it can be used as any sort of rigging point. The baby pipe clamp has a uniquely designed hook that keeps the clamp on the pipe even with a light fixture attached while the bolt is being tightened. Sometimes they can have a safety chain or cotter pin attached permanently to them as well. One advantage to using a Baby Pipe Clamp over a Baby Cheeseborough is that there is a smaller bolt that holds the baby pin in place. You can loosen the bolt and pan the lamp around on the pin without worrying about the fixture coming off the point.

Substitutions

  • Baby Cheeseborough - Although this is not a great substitution as they are harder to maneuver with on set.
